BRADLEY STOKE LEISURE CENTRE
SOUTH Gloucestershire Leisure (SGL) has entered into an exciting partnership with SkillsActive to deliver an apprenticeship programme to leisure operations staff.
In January, 28 apprentices commenced training for level 2 and level 3 apprenticeships respectively.
To celebrate this partnership and National Apprenticeship Week 2009, SkillsActive will be hosting an Apprenticeships Launch event at Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre on Friday, February 27 between 11am and 1pm.
The training, to be delivered over two years by Chartstage, is designed to offer ongoing training and development to ensure that that South Gloucestershire Leisure’s workforce is prepared to face the demands of working in a fast-moving customer-focused business.
Filton College’s n-gaged training team are also supporting SGL’s training programme and are creating tailor-made solutions for other areas of the business, such as catering, marketing and management development.
Chief executive of SGL Mark Crutchley said: “I’m delighted to be able to offer our employees the opportunity of such high quality learning. To invest in our staff with this scheme is an incredibly positive prospect and will only add to our commitment to improve services for our customers.”
Adrian Cable of SkillsActive said: “Apprenticeships represent a fantastic opportunity for employers in the Sports and Leisure industry to train their existing staff and develop their skills.
“The commitment to developing their staff by SGL, and the training solutions provided by Chartstage and by Filton College, is a great example of good practice.”
